The ocean looks blue because water absorbs more red light
Water acts like a filter on sunlight. It absorbs colors toward the red end of the spectrum more strongly, leaving more blue light for us to see in clear ocean water.
The water quietly edits the sunlight and leaves plenty of blue on the page.
