An opal's colors come from tiny spheres arranged inside the stone
Small silica spheres can pack together inside an opal in an orderly pattern. When light meets that structure, different wavelengths bend and spread apart, producing shifting flashes of color.
A stone packed tiny spheres so neatly that it made its own rainbow.
