A fig hides its tiny flowers on the inside
A fig begins as a hollow, fleshy structure called a syconium. Many very small flowers grow along its inner surface, and the ripe fig contains the tiny one-seeded fruits those flowers produce.
It is a little flower garden with the walls folded around it.
