Star anise keeps seeds inside the points of its star
Star anise is the dried fruit of an evergreen tree. Its woody fruit usually spreads into eight pointed sections, and each little boat-shaped section holds a smooth brown seed.
Every arm of the star comes with its own small seed pocket.
