Earth's highest clouds can keep shining after sunset
Noctilucent clouds form from tiny ice crystals about 80 kilometers above Earth in the mesosphere. Their great height lets them catch sunlight after the Sun has dropped below the horizon for people on the ground.
The landscape is dark, but those silver-blue threads are still high enough to find the light.
