A ha-ha is a fence hidden in a ditch
Eighteenth-century landscape gardens used a sunken wall and dry ditch to keep grazing animals off the lawn. From farther away, the barrier disappeared and the green view looked unbroken.
The lawn seems to continue forever. The fence is simply being very discreet.
