A windcatcher can cool a room without a fan
Traditional Persian windcatchers rise above a building to catch moving air and guide it inside. At Golestan Palace, the air passed over a pool so the water cooled it before it entered the rooms.
The tower catches a breeze, gives it a quick visit to the pool and sends it indoors feeling refreshed.
