Victorian terracotta sculpture could be copied from one mould
The sculptural details on parts of the Victoria and Albert Museum are modelled in terracotta rather than carved from stone. Casting each piece from the same mould made it possible to repeat the decoration many times.
The same very serious face gets to appear all along the wall.
