Tiny Pan keeps a gap open in Saturn's rings
Pan orbits inside the Encke Gap and gives passing ring particles small gravitational kicks. Those nudges keep the gap clear and build long, orderly wakes in the ice around it.
The ravioli-shaped moon is only about twenty-eight kilometers wide, but its tidy path is enormous.
