A Cliff Swallow nest can contain a thousand mud pellets
The pair carries wet mud in their bills and presses each pellet into place with a shaking motion. About 900 to 1,200 pieces form the finished gourd-shaped nest.
One pellet looks like mud. A thousand pellets look like a little house.
