Chimpanzees make drinking sponges from leaves
A chimpanzee crumples or chews a handful of leaves, dips the bundle into water, and lifts it to its mouth. The leaves hold water like a soft reusable sponge.
The cup is a handful of leaves, and it refills with one dip.
