A magnet can pull ferrofluid into a field of glossy spikes
Ferrofluid holds tiny magnetic particles inside a liquid. Near a magnet, magnetic forces pull the surface upward while surface tension pulls it smooth, and the balance produces rows of dark peaks.
The invisible field becomes a tiny black mountain range.
